The Ardsley Choreographic Residency is a week long, all-inclusive residency in collaboration with Catskill Art Space in Livingston Manor, NY - offering travel from NYC, accommodations, 1600SF of rehearsal space, artist stipend and a community showing at the end. Artists selected for this residency are invited to present the finished work at the Dance Gallery Festival. The residency will include in a showing of work followed by a Q&A with the choreographer.  


The Details 

A week long residency in Livingston Manor, NY from October 6-13 including: 

  • $3000 Artist stipend 

  • Exclusive access to a 1600 square foot rehearsal space for the entire week 

  • Housing near downtown Livingston Manor 

  • Transportation from NYC to Livingston Manor 

  • Invitation to show the work at a future Dance Gallery Festival in NYC 

  • If desired, mentorship and feedback during the residency can be provided 


The selected artist will be asked to have: 

Community classes for the local elementary school 

Open rehearsals through out the week 

Residency showing (30-40 mins of material, can include rep in addition to work made during the residency) + Q&A 


Interested choreographers should provide 1-2 works that best represent you as a choreographer, a written proposal for the residency, and a personal statement. You will need to upload a PDF of your proposal and personal statement. The personal statement should be no more than one page, answering the following questions:

  1. What is your character and work ethic?

  2. Why are you in need of a residency at this stage?

  3. How could this residency serve your future aspirations as a dance maker?


We will announce 3 finalists a week after the application deadline and those finalists will have an interview with the Artistic Director (to be scheduled either in-person or via Zoom) before we select the residency recipient. Finalists will be contacted by email.


A few things to note 

Applying artists and company need to be available at the dates of the residency. The dates are not flexible. Solos and duets are not eligible for this residency. Works with 3+ dancers will be considered.

About the Artist

Olga Rabetskaya (she/her) is U.S. based artist originally from Belarus. She is a choreographer, director and photographer whose work spans film, choreography and photography, multimedia production. Olga’s artistic research and exploration focus on the deep knowledge of the body and how to share our emotional experience, memories, and body intelligence through movement. She was a soloist in the Contemporary dance troupe of the State Youth Theater of Belarus from 2014 to 2019. Her dance works and dance films have been presented at international festivals in the United States, Poland, Belgium, United Kingdom, Portugal, China, Brazil, Bolivia, and Belarus. She has held four personal photo exhibitions in Belarus and USA and has been awarded residencies at the Monira Foundation (2022), The Cell Theater (2022), School of Visual Arts (2021), Gallim Moving Women+ (2021), El Camp (2021), Fellowship at SMUSH Gallery in Jersey City (2021), Kunstraum (2021) and  Residence for Young Choreographers in Moscow (2018).
